Strike out for USA

Posted by Chris Houghton

Threats have faded of a strike closing ports on the US Eastern seaboard after it was announced today that the ILA and USMX have agreed to extend the existing labor contract for 90 days while they continue to negotiate a new, 10-year contract. As such, there is no longer a risk of a strike on October 1 (nor any Port Congestion Surcharges) and the existing contract will now expire December 30, 2012.
