New Zealand Opening For Trade
Following strict Covid regulations, New Zealand is opening up its borders again soon and has positioned itself to grow business with the UK, following the recent trade deal.
New Zealand’s borders have been closed since March 2020 and only its citizens are allowed in and out. However, that’s all about to change, with Australians allowed to enter in April and citizens from a further 60 countries, including the UK, from 2 May 2022.
The change in policy should lead to passenger flights being increased, which is vitally important for air freight capacity on the trade.
The timing of the changes should be a boost for businesses in Great Britain and New Zealand, since the two countries signed a new trade deal last month, which the UK government expect to lead to a 60% increase in bilateral trade.
The deal attempts to eliminate tariffs, cut red tape and enable freer movement of professional workers. Tariffs of up to 10% on clothing and footwear and 5% on certain transport vehicles are to be abolished.
With our group being positioned as one of the leading logistics service providers on the route, we operate a range of ocean and air freight services for both import and export.
